A&E change ‘will lead to deaths’

AN A&E nurse has criticised plans to downgrade his local emergency services, warning that increased transit time will lead to deaths.

Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust plans to reorganise its acute services over the next five years.

Richard Watkins, a staff nurse at Rochdale Infirmary, spoke out last week on ITV’s Tonight With Trevor McDonald.

He told NT: ‘A number of critical cases will be time-dependent and must be stabilised immediately.’
