Japanese nursing body launches quake appeal

  • Comment

The Japan Society of Disaster Nursing has launched a campaign to raise funds to help the victims of the recent earthquake and tsunami.

Thousands of people died in the disaster when a tsunami flooded large areas of north-east Japan following a powerful 9.0-magnitude quake.

Millions more are still suffering, with many left homeless and facing disruption to food and water supplies, and access to medical treatment.

The society has already sent teams of nurses to the affected areas, in a bid to help those most in need.

Now it is looking to raise funds to help local nursing organisations continue their important work as Japan struggles to get back to normal life.

The society said anyone wanting to donate money to the cause should direct their fund to the following bank account. Name of Bank: Japan Post; Bank Account No.: 00920-3-318582 (To Giro Account); Payee Name: Japan Society of Disaster Nursing Donation Project (Nihon Saigai Kango Gakkai Bokin Katsudou Jigyou).
