Breast cancer nurse wins patient care award

Nurse Denise Carr of Spire Wellesley Hospital, Southend-on-Sea, has won an award for her “devoted” work with breast cancer patients.

A mastectomy lingerie company asked its customers to vote for their favourite breast care nurses throughout the year, with voting closing at the end of October. Carr won 30% of the nominations.

As well as recognition for her excellence in patient care, Carr will receive a pampering session at a spa.

One of the many nominations received reads: “She is totally devoted to her work and is cherished by everybody who meets her… I cannot think that anybody could be more deserving.”

  • Congratulations to Denise. How lovely to have a good news story for once about dedication and hard work which is the lot of most nurses. Thanks NT
