Cancer charity to set up nurse-led information service

  • Comment

A women’s cancer charity is seeking a specialist nurse to run a new information service on gynaecological cancers.

The online and telephone help service is being set up by The Eve Appeal to give women up-to-date, reliable information about all gynaecological cancers and support them following a diagnosis.

The charity is looking for a specialist nurse in gynaecological oncology to help run the service, which will also provide information about genetic testing and risk factors.

The organisation said the Gynaecological Cancers Information Service was being launched in response to the needs of women.

“It will provide them with that level of support they need in what are difficult and often confusing times following a diagnosis,” said a spokeswoman.

“Additionally, it will be used as a way of raising the profile of the world-class research we conduct into early detection and prevention of these cancers with appropriate health networks and professionals,” she said.

Nurses can apply for the job via the CharityJob website until 19 October.
