Our new edition of Getting Travel Insurance is now available to order for free from be.macmillan.org.uk.
It includes lots of tips to help people affected by cancer find suitable companies. It also includes a checklist to help people know what to ask when contacting companies and a comparison table for them to make notes and record quotes notes when shopping around.
After careful consideration, we’ve taken information about specific travel insurance companies out of the booklet and have removed them from the Macmillan website.
We’re changing this for a few reasons:
• Feedback on companies listed varied substantially.
• People affected by cancer left lots of comments, queries and complaints about travel insurance companies.
• We aren’t able to monitor companies to ensure they’re providing appropriate services, and keeping the list up to date proved difficult.
We decided that the best way to support people affected by cancer to gain travel insurance, wasn’t to recommend specific companies, but instead to share their feedback and provide them with helpful information on how to get the best quote.
As part of these efforts, we’re asking people living with cancer to post their positive stories online, on our travel insurance blog. The blog is a place for people affected by cancer to read and share travel insurance company recommendations. Those people seeking advice can then read the blog to find out which providers other people are recommending.
