  • Comment

Macmillan’s session at the CNO Summit in November last year focused on the specialist nursing workforce.

There was a good discussion on the challenges of retaining specialist nurses in the current financial environment.

Discussion topics included:

  • Lead nurses / managers need tools and evidence to make an economic case for specialist nurses
  • Support Worker roles (being piloted by Macmillan) are welcomed and it would be helpful to develop resources to facilitate their establishment
  • Specialist nurses can use education & influencing to meet the needs of an ageing population and bridging the gap between secondary and community care

The reports for England and Northern Ireland can be found online by following the links. The reports for Wales and Scotland are in progress.
