Update on England's and Northern Ireland's cancer patient experience survey (CPES)

  • Comment

NHS England is currently in the process of finding a new survey provider to collate the next CPES survey.

Once appointed, NHS England will provide an update to Trusts and other users of CPES data on timeframes about sampling, data collection and when the results of the next survey will be available for use.

Northern Ireland’s first ever CPES is also underway. The response has already been good with 33% of forms completed and returned before the first reminder had been sent out. The deadline for submissions is 17 April, and results are due in the summer.

At Macmillan, we’ve put together a number of case studies to show how organisations use the CPES and other feedback from patients to improve their services. It is clear that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to improving cancer patient experience. Trusts are developing ways to use the data that fit with their existing systems, structures and ways of working. We hope that you and your teams can use these to inform how you are using data to make improvements ahead of the next CPES.
