August 2015 marked the 40th anniversary of the very first Macmillan cancer care centre.
It’s also 40 years since the first Macmillan nurse was appointed. Since then, we’ve also gone on to fund physiotherapists, dieticians and social workers, to name but a few. Macmillan professionals help in a variety of
ways, such as by supporting people at diagnosis, helping them manage the side effects of treatment and letting them know about other Macmillan services, like Macmillan Grants.
I’m proud to be a Macmillan professional. To support patients with cancer everyday is a real privilege.”
Karen, Macmillan Lung Cancer Clinical Nurse Specialist
