Macmillan says 'thank you' to nurses and everyone supporting people affected by cancer

Today is International Nurses’ day. It’s a good opportunity for Macmillan to say thank you to all the Macmillan professionals and wider cancer workforce who work tirelessly in a tough climate to help make sure that no one has to face cancer alone.

On our website we’re encouraging people to get involved and share their stories of how nurses have helped them. And we’re showcasing the stories of Kate, who is living with cervical cancer and has been supported by her Macmillan nurse Vikki, and Andy, who was supported through the psychological impact of cancer by his nurse Jaye.

“We don’t need a specific date to remind us to celebrate nurses of course. However, as 12 May is International Nurses Day we’d like to say a sincere thank you to all the nurses and the other health and social care professionals who have continued to provide the high quality care and support that we’ve come to expect. We know this hasn’t been easy, as you’ve told us some of the challenges you face, but this makes you even more inspiring individuals.”

Look out for stories about inspiring professionals over the next few days – including interviews with one of Macmillan’s oldest professionals, Sally Jorden.
