'Vague' health insurance policies condemned

Former NHS chief executive Lord Nigel Crisp has attacked a lack of transparency in private health insurance policies, which he claims has created a “private healthcare lottery”.

In a speech to the House of Lords, he criticised “vague, confusing and contradictory” insurance policies that meant patients who thought they had bought complete cancer cover find out, after being diagnosed with the condition, they only have partial cover at best.
