NICE endorses wider use of heart disease drugs

  • Comment

NICE has recommended the wider use of clopidogrel and modified-release dipyridamole for the secondary prevention of vascular disease.

Clopidogrel is recommended as an option for people who have had an ischaemic stroke, who have peripheral arterial disease or who have multivascular disease. Modified-release dipyridamole plus aspirin is suggested as an option for people who have had a transient ischaemic attack.

The final draft guidance updates previous NICE guideline from 2005.
