Urinary sling 'helps continence problems'

  • Comment

A synthetic sling to prevent stress urinary continence problems may improve patient success rates, according to a European study presented at the International Continence Society-International Urogynecological Association.

Success rates vary with urethral slings, often due to complications.

However, in a study involving a monofilament polypropylene, light-weight, macroporous midurethral sling, improvements were reported by most of the 668 women who received the device.

Overall 95 per cent said they were satisfied or very satisfied with the results after a year, and 87 per cent after two years.
