Advanced COPD patients avoid contact with GPs because of poor relationships

A study published in the Primary Care Respiratory Journal has suggested that people with advanced COPD may delay seeking help with an acute exacerbation because of a poor relationship with their GP.

Other reasons include poor access to the surgery or difficulty with transport. Patients also said they delayed seeking help because they did not want to bother their doctor.

The study involved in-depth interviews with 16 patients in south-east London who had advanced COPD
