COPD to become third largest cause of death

By 2020, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) will have become the third largest cause of death worldwide, according to the American Thoracic Society.

2426 COPD patients of working age (45 to 68 years) were questioned in an international survey about their use of healthcare services.

The impact of COPD patients account for over £875,000 per month including standard UK healthcare provider costs. Per month, the average per patient cost comes to approximately £362.
