TCS for children has 'no side effects'

  • Comment

The use of topical corticosteroids (TCS) in children with eczema does not have negative side effects, according to Australian researchers online in Pediatric Dermatology.

They said parental phobia of TCS was widespread – the commonest fear being that it would “thin the skin”.

They studied 92 children, 70 of which had eczema and were treated with TCS.

Children using TCS had no evidence of skin thinning despite using enough TCS to produce complete control of the eczema, the authors said.
