A senior nurse has won an award from charity SeeAbility.

Katarzyna Wenta was presented with the award in recognition of her outstanding contribution to developing a groundbreaking system for nursing young people with Juvenile Batten’s Disease.

Ms Wenta is a senior nurse at Heather House, a palliative care home for young people with JBD, which is run by the charity.

She carried out a review of current evidence and best practice of palliative care at the home, before introducing new staff training and developing innovative tools such as pain scales and end-of-life care plans.
