An HIV test which gives the result in just 60 seconds is being offered at health sites across Liverpool.
The free service uses blood taken from the fingertip and marks World Aids Day on Thursday. Last year the test was given to around 1,000 people.
It was devised by the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine.
Knowsley Contraception and Sexual Health Service and St Helens Hospital are also running a similar HIV testing programme.
Sexual health adviser Gary Barker said: “We are committed to helping reduce HIV infection in the community and we urge people to visit us for a test to check their HIV status.
“The test is quick and simple, you will get your results in 60 seconds and we can offer a wide range of services to help you.”
In Liverpool, tests can be taken at Well Travelled Clinics in Pembroke Place; Sahir House in Dale Street; the United Reformed Church Building in Wavertree; and The Liverpool Centre for Sexual Health at Liverpool University Hospital.
