Nominations have now closed for the Royal College of Nursing’s council elections, with chair of council Michael Brown re-elected unopposed for 2016 and 2017.
Based in Ayrshire in Scotland, Mr Brown has held the post since 2013. He has a background in rehabilitative medicine and workforce planning.

RCN council vice chair Lors Allford has also been re-elected to her post, the college announced yesterday.
The 31-member council sets the strategic direction of the RCN and has ultimate responsibility for its long term financial sustainability.
Meanwhile, Gill Cort has been elected unopposed as chair of RCN’s governance support committee, taking over from Kevin Bell.
The college added that details of the elections for the chairs of the nursing practice and policy and membership and representation committees and the chair of the business committee/honorary treasurer will be announced at the end of the week.
Voting for these posts will open on Friday 11 December 2015. The four committee chairs all sit on the RCN council
