Nutritional care toolkit launched

  • Comment

The British Association for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (BAPEN) have launched a nutritional care commissioning toolkit based around four “essential requirements”.

These are:

  • identify malnutrition through screening and assessment;
  • implement appropriate care pathways for all identified or at risk of malnutrition;
  • train all frontline staff in the importance of nutritional care;
  • ensure management structures are in place to support best nutritional practice.

BAPEN quality group member Ailsa Brotherton said: “The result [of implementing these four requirements] will be that every individual involved will understand their role in delivering excellent nutritional care.”
