ARNS Bursaries: how do I get one?

The Association of Respiratory Nurse Specialists (ARNS) now provides two bursary opportunities that are open to both members and non-members of ARNS.

Non-Members Bursary – Early Respiratory Nurse Career Development

The aim of this bursary is assist registered nurses to undertake their first post-registration respiratory course. If you are working with respiratory patients this is an excellent opportunity to enhance respiratory knowledge and improve patient care. ARNS Members Bursary

If you have been a member of ARNS for a period of 6 months you can apply. To become a member you need to be a registered nurse on the NMC register, be currently engaged in reparatory care and have at least one post-registration respiratory qualification. An application form and further details can be accessed via the members  page on the website  - you will need your login details to access this.

Bursary details

  • The non-members and members bursary allocate a total of £2000 each for a 12 month period
  • Bursaries will only be awarded bi-annually during February and September of each year
  • Bursaries can only be awarded for a maximum of 50% of the course cost
  • The average award is £250 and the maximum amount awarded is £500 however all applications will be given consideration depending on their merit.
