Drug abuse stigma sets back rehabilitation

The stigma associated with drug addiction needs to end if users are to kick their habit more successfully, a report from a leading drug policy think tank has said.

The report, from the UK Drugs Policy Commission, says the “extreme stigma” associated with drug addiction, presents a major obstacle to rehabilitation and recovery.

The report says stigma prevents users accessing treatment as well as finding housing and work.
