Mephedrone linked to severe anxiety and suicidal thoughts

The adverse psychological effects of mephedrone – also known as meph, 4-MMC, MCAT, drone, miaow and bubbles – have been documented for the first time.

Scottish researchers studied 20 patients seeking treatment after taking mephedrone.

The most common symptom was agitation, reported in 70% of cases, which was usually severe. Psychotic symptoms were also present in 40% of patients and suicidal thoughts in 20%.
