Wound care for children requires 'security and participation'

  • Comment

Children require more than just analgesics during wound care, according to Swedish researchers.

They said children also need to “experience security and participation” so they “trust the nurse to carry out the wound dressing” and therefore experience less anxiety and distress as a result.

The researchers studied 39 children, aged five to 10, who underwent a wound care session and were followed up with interviews.
