Nurses interested in a career in clinical research have been invited to attend a free recruitment open day at St Thomas’ Hospital in London.
Delegates will hear from existing clinical research nurses and find out about the training offered, as well as opportunities for professional development, such as studying for formal qualifications.
They will also have the opportunity to tour the units at St Thomas’ Hospital where clinical research involving patients and healthy volunteers is undertaken.
There will be information about current vacancies at Guy’s and St Thomas’ and King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trusts, and with the Comprehensive Local Research Network across trusts in south London.
Guy’s and St Thomas’ deputy chief nurse, Nicky Barker-King, said: ‘Nurses can contribute enormously to clinical research, and with the advent of our Academic Health Sciences Centre, King’s Health Partners, there has never been a more exciting time for individuals to consider a career in clinical research with us.
‘These nurses will be able to play a key role in the development and adoption of new diagnostic procedures and treatments. We look forward to welcoming people from across the UK to our open day,’ she added.
The event is being held on Monday 29 June in the Governors’ Hall at St Thomas’ Hospital, Westminster Bridge Road, SE1 7EH, from 2 to 4.30 pm.
