CNO launches benchmark on tidiness

  • Comment

A new Essence of Care benchmark on the patient environment was launched today at the Chief Nursing Officer's annual conference.

The benchmark focuses on a number of areas such as such as ease of access to an environment (such as a hospital ward or GP practice), how well it is maintained, cleanliness and tidiness, and visible precautions for controlling infection.

It is the tenth in the Essence of Care benchmarking series.

‘The Essence of Care programme is unique in that it combines the elements that are important to patients with actions that professionals can take to make real improvements in the environment they create for patients,’ CNO for England Chris Beasley said at the conference in London.

‘The overall toolkit helps share best practice among the entire nursing team and maintain high standards,’ she said.
