Complaints were lodged against NMC last year

  • Comment
Allegations of improper conduct were lodged against senior members of the NMC last year, despite previous denials that any such complaints had been made, NT understands.

The regulator is currently under scrutiny from the Council for Healthcare Regulatory Excellence over claims that it has an ‘ingrained culture of bullying and racism’(NT News, 26 February, p3).

Correspondence seen by NT reveals that a former trustee, who wishes to remain anonymous, lodged a series of complaints against the regulator after being the subject of an internal NMC investigation in 2007.

A spokesperson for the NMC said: ‘The NMC has to follow due process and cannot comment at this time until the publication of the independent scrutiny by the CHRE. Publication will provide an appropriate and welcome opportunity for the NMC to comment in more detail regarding these matters.’
