Well, my name is Daniella but I prefer Dannie. I am studying an Adult Nursing course - currently in Year 1. I'm 20 and I feel so young on the course! Have had previous experience as I did a BTEC in Health and Social Care. I also went to South Africa at the age of 16 helping those with HIV and AIDS. I work at a care home as a care assistance when I'm not studying. My ambition in life is to specialise in the heart.... Or mental health... Or both! I attend my local church regularly and participate in bible studies and fellowship nights :) I enjoy reading books and going on holiday :D And I am getting married next year!!
Wow, sounds like great fun! Don't you feel a bit lost at times? I'm in a similier situation to you, in Year 1, on my first placement but I am on Gynae. I have admitted patients and spent a few times in theatre (Very daunting at first...) Any tips for coping with nights? My night shifts are slowly creeping nearer... x
Comment on: Can the flu jab give you the flu?
Na I don't think it can give you the flu :) I have it because I'm asthmatic, and I have never had any problems with it.
Thank you for the comments guys. Really helpful :)
I feel that the colour coded aprons is a great idea. On a ward I have worked on, we used green for food, white for the bays and yellow for side wards. However, I do feel it unnecessary to change apron every time... For side wards yes. And green only for food. But white aprons on the bays can be quite silly.... It wastes so many aprons and most of the time there isn't that much patient contact!
