Date revealed for sacked nurse's tribunal

Karen Reissmann, the nurse who was sacked after blowing the whistle over concerns to reform mental health services in the Manchester region, has been given a date for her tribunal hearing.

The case will take place between 26th and 30th January next year.

She was given the date following a hearing yesterday where Ms Riseman's former trust, Manchester Mental Health and Social Care Trust, attempted to have to have the case thrown out.

Ms Reissmann is claiming unfair dismissal after being sacked by the trust last November on the grounds of gross misconduct charges following conversations with the press about NHS cuts and privatisation.

‘I would just like the issue to be resolved, I am still working as an agency nurse so my life feels on hold, so I would love it to be finally dealt with,' said Ms Reissmann.

The trust was unavailable to comment.

  • Good luck Karen. Employers need to learn they cannot walk all over their employees with impunity. I am going through a similar situation. It makes you feel as though you have done something wrong. I hope you are getting the support you need.
