Department of Health launches NHS guidance on religion and belief

  • Comment
The Department of Health has launched a practical guide about religion or belief aimed at all workers in the NHS.

Religion or belief: a practical guide for the NHS provides details about how to implement a single equality scheme (SES) in the health service.

The guide includes case studies about organisations that have implemented male circumcision clinics and inter-faith gowns for patients.

It also touches on issues such as addressing patients’ spiritual needs towards the end of their lives and how to deal with members of staff who refuse to deal with transgender patients on religious grounds.
