The Kidney Patient Guide, an online discussion forum and information centre for sufferers of kidney disease, has won an award at the Fresh Media and Digital Awards.

The Not for Profit Gold Award was given to the Kidney Patient Guide, run by for the impact it had on the audience, its usefulness and prevalence throughout the kidney patient community.

The award judges commented: “The Kidney Patient Guide provides help and support for those affected by kidney disease; its vibrant community offering friendship, help, advice and a sense of kinship that extends beyond the site itself, spilling over into a number of real-life events.”

The site, which is designed and managed by digital media specialists Cogapp, serves as a central port of call for everything patients need to know about kidney disease, its effects and treatment methods. The online discussion forum has nearly 2,000 registered users and enables people to share experiences, feelings and relevant information with other sufferers and their support networks.

Production director Rachael Rainbow commented: “The growing popularity of the Kidney Patient Guide and its support networks have been reward enough, but it’s a real added bonus to have the concept and design acknowledged by our digital industry peers.”
