The head of the RCN in Wales is to advise ministers on the future structure of the NHS.

The RCN in Wales has announced that its director, Tina Donnelly, has been appointed to Welsh Assembly’s National Advisory Board

The new board will be in place by 1 April 2009. It will be chaired by health minister for Wales Edwina Hart, who will oversee the implementation of the proposed NHS structure.

‘I was delighted to hear that I was appointed to the National Advisory Board,’ Ms Donnelly said.

‘The multi-disciplinary board will have the best interest of all health care professionals working in the NHS and will ensure that health care services for the nation is a priority for the government,’ she added.

RCN general secretary Peter Carter said: ‘Tina has excellent trade union experience and will be ideally placed to ensure the voice of nursing in Wales is heard loud and clear.’
