Comment on: Has risk assessment replaced clinical judgement?
Anonymous | 3-Jul-2013 2:50 pm, Michael Stone and others have lucidly described the problem: as usual, the issue to be addressed, is where are the correct balance points between different requirements, which considered individually and in isolation from one another all have different and conflicting 'idealised solutions'?
These balance point issues are horribly complicated to resolve.
Comment on: Online resources launched to support '6Cs'
I'll take a look at that website - fascinated to see what the tool for increasing courage, given the clear evidence about quite widespread bullying and retribution within the NHS, is.

If you are suggesting that attaching labels to everyone (patient, professional, informal carer, etc) and then facilely and simplistically treating (behaving towards, or valuing) individuals on the basis of their labels, instead of on a more deeply thought-out consideration of their ability to contribute, then I agree with you.

Joke of the week
You are straying into a dangerous area - if you need to be good to get into heaven, some people will argue that the NHS should only treat the deserving ill.
Story of the Week.
A guy spent some time way up north, and he wrote a book about his experiences. On the back page he described a discussion he had with one of the northern locals.
He asked, what do you do if a polar bear is prowling around your tent.
'Pick up rifle, go outside, shoot bear - no problem'
He asks, what if you don't have a rifle.
'Two of you go outside, split up, walk to opposite sides of bear. Bear not like this, bear run away - no problem'
He asks, what if you are on your own, and don't have a rifle.
'Ah - not so good !'

DH Agent started his post with
Tinkerbell, your comments about the patient who decided to go home, and your reference to No Decision About Me Without Me, raise an issue which vexes me.
so he was commenting on tinkerbell's post - people do comment, about other people's comments !
