E.coli scare chip shop was 'zero' rated

A chip shop at the centre of a suspected E.coli outbreak received a ‘zero’ rating when it was inspected by council hygiene staff a year ago.

The Llay Fish Bar in Llay, in Wrexham was due for a another check later this month, according to the Press Association.

Wrexham County Borough Council gave the the takeaway ‘zero stars’ out of a maximum five in August 2008 and its report said: ‘Poor hygiene conditions found. Some major non-compliance with food legislation.’

On 30 July, the premises were closed after four people fell ill - a woman and a three-year-old girl both suffered renal failure.

The child is in Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool where her condition is described as serious.

The woman, Mrs Morrisroe-Clutton, 32, who gave birth to her son Oliver 11 weeks ago, is being treated in Wrexham Maelor Hospital where she is in a medically-induced coma.
