Hate to say it but sounds like he's not being very supportive and your only 1 month in. It take both parties to be willing to put in the effort and he has to understand how important this is for you, speaking from experience do not let someone else influence your decisions, opportunities like this don't come around very often and if you choose to leave you might not be able to get back in to do it at a later date.
Sorry to be the party pooper but I wouldn't give it up for any man, did that before and took 10 years to get back into nursing, if he really loves you he will support you, not control you.
First off congratulations on securing your place! That is half the battle done. I am a single parent to a wonderful 4 year old, I have no family support and limited friend network, have just started my first year and it's a struggle already. The university should be able to offer you lots of help with respect to finding childcare, they may even have one onsite. Try and budget from the very beginning and if you have enough left over to set aside for rainy days that will be your lifeline. There is childcare funding available for people on low and single parent families if this applies to you. Use family support if it's available to you and don't be afraid to ask the university aswell, they want to be able to help you and will do all they can to make sure you stand in your cap and gown in 3 years time being the best nurse you can be,
Remember that life happens and you will feel like giving up but nothing is impossible, persevere and you will be holding that degree with a very proud child next to you :)
