Epilepsy leaflet commended by BMA

A new leaflet about epilepsy and mood has been commended by the British Medical Association.

The Bigger Picture, a National Society for Epilepsy leaflet that explores feelings surrounding diagnosis, living with epilepsy and common mood problems was commended at this year’s BMA Patient Information Awards.

Stella Pearson, NSE epilepsy information officer, said: “We are delighted that the BMA has praised this leaflet. It uses comic strip stories are now being recognised as a good way to reach people who are feeling anxious or depressed or have concentration issues.”

Health care professionals can also order Epilepsy in Mind, NSE’s pack on epilepsy, anxiety and depression.

The charity also has an award-winning learning disability pack called About Epilepsy, which consists of nine easy to read leaflets with photographs, symbols and large text. The topics covered include: taking your medication, keeping safe, going to see your doctor, having a blood test, and having an EEG.

The pack costs £3.50 and can be ordered as above.
