Colchester NHS walk-in centre in Essex is set to extend opening hours on weekends and bank holidays.

As of the 6 September, the nurse-led service will be open from 7am-10pm, compared with the previous hours of 9am–5pm.

Patients will be able to drop in to be treated for injuries and illnesses which include; flu-like symptoms, wounds, headaches and other minor ailments.

Lucy Booth, a clinical manager at North East Essex PCT reminded people that no appointment was necessary. ‘The service is open to anyone,’ she said, ‘Colchester residents, visitors to Colchester and those commuting to and from the town.’

The walk-in centre is located on the ground floor of the Octagon building in Middleborough, its entrance at the bottom of North Hill.

It will continue to open 7am-10pm on weekdays.
