Family planning nurse retires from NHS for second time

  • Comment

A Birmingham family planning nurse is due to retire from the NHS for the second time at the end of this month.

Jean Foster, who has worked in the NHS for more than 40 years, first retired from Sandwell PCT’s family planning clinic in 2001 but came back after only a month.

‘My colleagues at the time made me realise that I still had so much to give to the people that needed the service, and in truth, I missed working,’ she said.

‘I’ve been very lucky to work in such a close-knit team and to benefit from the support and friendships that come with that,’ she added.
