Grant to fund Welsh nursing research

  • Comment
The Welsh Assembly has given a grant of £1.2 million towards research in nursing, midwifery and allied health professionals.

The grant, which was co-funded by the Higher Education Funding Council Wales (HEFCW) has been awarded to Research Capacity Building Collaboration Wales (RCBC Wales), a programme run by a consortium of higher education institutions across the country.

RCBC Wales plans to allocate the money to researchers in nursing, midwifery and allied health professionals.

Announcing the grant, health minister, Edwina Hart said: ‘Enabling health professionals to undertake research into major health conditions will both further understanding of such conditions and improve patient care.’

This is the second grant awarded to RCBC Wales, who were given £680,000 in 2005.
