Six healthcare assistants have completed nurses training at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

All six have now accepted permanent positions throughout Northumberland and North Tyneside.

Rosemary Stephenson, the trust's director of nursing, said: 'They all did extremely well and worked very hard and we are really delighted to welcome them back to the trust as qualified staff nurses.'

The trust said it continued to support its secondment training programme, which enables staff from a wide variety of backgrounds to train with the University of Northumbria to gain a full nursing qualification.
