Some of the UK’s most inspirational nurses leaders gathered on 30 September at a reception in London to celebrate Nursing Times Leaders 2015.
The list of nurses and midwives from across the UK were selected by a panel of judges, and included nominations from Nursing Times readers.
The list included practitioners from across the UK, and from a wide range of specialties. They ranged from a retired nurse who is now a cross-bench member of the House of Lords to nurses in the early stages of their careers.
All those on the list had demonstrated exceptional leadership abilities that they had used to help shape the profession and healthcare more widely.
Nursing Times editor Jenni Middleton said: “This list celebrates a group of the most influential, intelligent and impactful nurses in the profession, and demonstrates the huge contribution nurses and midwives make to defining and implementing excellent patient care. I hope they will inspire others in the profession to have the confidence to achieve their full potential, and highlight to the wider public just how far nursing has come in the past two decades.
“Nurses are no longer junior partners in healthcare – they influence all levels of healthcare from clinical practice to government policy, and patients benefit from their skills and insight.”
