Nursing Times Careers Live rolls into Leeds on 25 May and although I know you love to come just for the free pens, we are offering so much more than that. It will be packed to the rafters with employers looking for nurses working at a range of levels in a broad spectrum of specialties and care settings.
This is your opportunity to talk to employers from different areas and discover the opportunities open to you. In fact, as well as receiving free careers advice, many of our attendees have been offered jobs there and then - on the spot - at our Careers Live events.
Recruiters include headline exhibitor CAS Behavioural Health, alongside Bradford Teaching Hospitals, Care UK, Cygnet, Elysium Healthcare, Fresenius Kabi, Healthcare At Home, Hull and East Yorkshire NHS Trust, NHS Blood and Transplant, Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, Spire Healthcare and Leeds Teaching Hospital.
Our free learning sessions will offer you the chance to improve your job applications with advice, support and insight into writing better personal statements and tips on interviewing with confidence.
NHS Employers, our event partner, will be on hand all day to share its expertise in how to get the most from your employer. Its chief executive, Danny Mortimer, will even deliver a presentation on how to ensure you have career-enhancing appraisals.
Back by popular demand, Professor Dame Elizabeth Anionwu will also be available to chat through her career and highlight some of the challenges she has faced as a nurse from a mixed race background – and how she overcame them. She will also be signing copies of her fabulous memoirs, Mixed Blessings from a Cambridge Union, which she published last year.
Helen Radlett, a GP practice nurse from Cambridge, will debunk some of the myths about what is involved in the life of a nurse in a general practice surgery.
And if that’s not enough, you will get the chance to win three lots of vouchers throughout the day, just by meeting and greeting 12 of our exhibitors. And if you need a rest, we have free massages on offer all day long.
Oh yes, a lot more than loads of free pens.
