Time to give nurses a little something back

Last month we thought it was high time that we gave something back to nurses with a special visit to Whipps Cross Hospital in North East London.

Some of the Nursing Times team visited nursing staff on the hospital’s Cedar Ward, which has had a tough time lately, to give out some goodies – snacks, hand gel and hand cream. We also set up a stand in the hospital’s restaurant to give away more free things to nursing staff.

Our visit was also to say thanks to Barts Health Trust, which runs the hospital, for its support with our recent Nursing Times Careers Live event in London on 30 June.

The event had to vie with the sunny weather and football action from the World Cup, but had its own draw due to it taking place so close to the NHS 70th birthday on 5 July. We held our own 1940s tea party, with bunting, vintage makeovers and the chance to learn the Lindy hop.

As ever, we had experts on hand to offer career development advice to help you plan your next move in nursing – either internally where you currently work or externally with a view to moving to pastures new.

There was also a top line-up of speakers during the day, who provided a blend of inspiration, food for thought and practical help.

We will now be taking a short break with our Nursing Times Careers Live events over the summer but they will return later in the year, with three more taking place around the country in the autumn. Careers Live will be in Manchester on 15 September and Birmingham on 20 October, before returning to London on 10 November.

Remember, attendance is free, so register today at live.nursingtimes.net
