  • Comment on: MP3 players and hearing damage

    Howard Bourke's comment 4 July, 2010 6:12 am

This was obviously a quite week - I remember all of this from the first time around when the headline read "walkmans damage your hearing" . We "should" all know every mp3 player has the option to limit the volume delivered by turning the noise down by either simply turning it down or by setting the limiter in the software.
I would have thought that by the ages indicated in the study these people were of an age to understand that high noise levels damage you hearing - not exactly new information.
When mp3 player are used by children it is the parents responsibility to set the volume limiter that is built into the device. Maybe the prospect of reading instructions and acting accordingly is too daunting for some.
