Concerns have been raised that the NHS will not be able to afford to roll out the human papilloma virus (HPV) jab to all 11 year olds in the UK.

The expert subcommittee on HPV vaccine policy, which advises the government,is due to meet this week to decide whether the estimated £88 million price tag represents value for money.

At its last meeting in September, the committeeruled out vaccinating boys. But it had not decided on whether initially including older age groups as part of a 'catch-up' campaign and subsequent booster jabs should be recommended.
