The RCN has published an online toolkit encouraging nurses to adopt the best hydration techniques.

The RCN has published an online toolkit encouraging nurses to adopt the best hydration techniques.

The Hospital Hydration Best Practice Toolkit is an online resource developed in conjunction with the National Patient Safety Agency (NPSA) and patient groups.

It provides practical advice for healthcare staff on how to minimise the risk and potential harm that poor hydration can cause and offers solutions to improving provision of water to hospital patients.

Geraldine Cunningham, head of the RCN Institute, said: 'The RCN believes that if we are to make hydration a top priority, then everybody in the workforce from the catering staff through to chief executives will need to play a part.

'This hydration best practice toolkit will help to ensure that it is achieved,' she said.
