Information packs give information to bowel cancer patients

  • Comment
Free information packs are being given to colorectal nurse specialists to distribute to bowel cancer patients across the country.

The charity Beating Bowel Cancer hopes the booklets will be a useful resource for the nurses, who are being encouraged to distribute the ‘Just diagnosed’ packs to patients.

Included in each pack are leaflets giving information about bowel cancer surgery, treatment pathways, diet and nutrition during recovery and patient support services.

Alison Mills, Macmillan colorectal nurse specialist at University Hospital of North Durham, said: ‘This new pack includes comprehensive advice and facts about the disease, its treatment and other related issues.’
