Initiative to protect Welsh nurses

  • Comment

New guidance has been produced to help make sure Welsh nurses are protected from workplace bullying.

The document, Bringing Respect to Work, will be given to all NHS organisations to remind employers of their responsibility to provide a working environment free of violence, aggression and harassment.

It states organisations should encourage staff to value each other, promote dignity at work and ensure nurses take care of their colleagues.

The guide has been drawn up by unions, the NHS in Wales and the Welsh Assembly.

Health minister for Wales Edwina Hart said: ‘It’s completely unacceptable for staff to feel bullied. I expect trusts and local health boards to come down hard on the perpetrators of such behaviour.’
