Midwives at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Foundation Trust celebrated International Day of the Midwife with the birth of Maisy Rennie,

Maisy Rennie weighed in at 6lb and 4oz. Mother and baby were presented with a certificate from the Royal College of Midwives to mark the special day.

Diane Swindlehurst, the trust’s head of midwifery, children’s and patient services, said: “The International Day of the Midwife is an occasion when every individual midwife takes time to think about the many others in the profession and to reflect upon  what midwives do for the world.”
