Job strain more than doubles the risk of a recurrence of myocardial infarction, according to a study.

The Canadian research looked at recurrence rates in myocardial infarction in 206 patients over a nine year period.

Those with chronic job strain were 2.2 times more likely to experience a second MI after 2.2 years of follow up.

Over the course of the entire study, the effect of chronic job strain still doubled the risk of a further MI.
