Respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) is the predominant clinical problem encountered in neonatal units. Incidence increases with lower gestational age.
For the purposes of this literature review the term observations will be used for the measurement of temperature, pulse, blood pressure, respirations, and pulse oximetry.
WHAT IS IT?
With the document Making a Difference the Department of Health committed itself to improving the quality of care provided to patients through clinical benchmarking (DoH, 1999).
